US Boarding Schools

US boarding schools can do more than help students get into a great university. It can provide students with a wealth of extracurricular experience, a broad network, a strong education, and lifelong friends. Most students attend boarding school from 13 or 14 onwards, however there are a few that accept students who are younger. The main exam requirement is either the ISEE or the SSAT; which of these you should be preparing for mostly depends on the school you are applying to. If you would like to discuss these exams and the process of applying, please do get in touch.

Many of our families are considering both the US and the UK systems. However, US boarding schools are very different from UK ones. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss further with one of our consultants.

US Day Schools and International Moves

We have helped many students move across the Atlantic to attend schools in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. The most challenging times to make these moves academically are after Year 9 due to the difference in curricula from International syllabi including IB and A level to the US Advanced Placement system. If you are making a transatlantic move, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss further.

US vs UK School System

We often get enquiries from parents concerned about switching between the US and UK (and vice versa) school systems in high school / senior school. Dr Katherine Wiles, our Founder, has lived between the US and the UK and is adept at translating the systems. Our schools consulting team, led by our Head Tutors, help families to consider the pros and cons of switching school systems. Additionally, our tutors offer summertime preparation to ensure that no ground is lost between school years. This has been a particularly popular option for students who have attended international schools and want to brush up on core syllabus English or Mathematics.
