My Tutoring & Teaching Experience

My first teaching experience was in the form of peer-to-peer sessions during my A-Levels, and then during my first summer at Cambridge where I was awarded a grant to teach English for a month in Madagascar. This mainly involved conducting sessions in French for healthcare professionals, police officers and children from 12-18 years of age in youth centres. I have worked as a Private Tutor for Wentworth Tutors since leaving Cambridge in 2015.

My Approach to Tutoring

My approach to tutoring focuses on enabling students to improve their own work by assisting them to check for errors and self-correct. In addition to guiding students through answers, I think it is always useful to show students how to find great learning resources and how to use them, so that they may continue to work independently in the future. I also believe in working together with students to find which learning and revision methods work best for them, be it a repeated use of textbooks and practice worksheets, mnemonics or a more visual approach.
