Francesca Ward - Private Tutor in North London
I graduated from Cambridge University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law. I first started tutoring when I was 17 as a peer mentor for students who required further help in preparing for their GCSEs. Since then, I have continued to tutor privately as well as working for well regarded organisations such as, the Oxford & Cambridge Summer School and Save the Children Int'l. The majority of my experience is working with children 14 years and above, however, I am equally confident teaching younger ages. I find tutoring incredibly rewarding and enjoy seeing the development and success of my tutees.

My Approach to Tutoring
Empathy and understanding is incredibly important in my approach to tutoring. Understanding and assessing the specific needs of an individual is fundamental to a successful tutor relationship. I have experience working with individuals who underperform or who just sometimes need that extra bit of help in their subjects. I work with lesson objectives and summaries to help improve structure of lessons and to provide clear ‘take-aways’ from sessions.
Fun Facts About Me
Music plays a significant role in my life! I am a vocalist/musician. I write my own music as well as perform work for other songwriters. Between ages of 12 and 18 years, I travelled internationally competing in singing and choir competitions with the Farnham Youth Choir. During my time at Cambridge, I was a member of Magdalene Choir which involved 3x evensong a week and tours in UK and Europe.

Josephine Waugh – Private Tutor in London
My name is Josephine and I am currently completing my Masters degree in History of Architecture at the UCL Faculty of the Built Environment (MA), The Bartlett; prior to which I studied History of Art at the University of Cambridge (BA): 2:1. During my undergraduate degree at Cambridge University I received a grant to spend six months in Mexico City researching Mexican architectural modernism and the development of the urban landscape, working towards an undergraduate thesis that I am currently extending at a postgraduate level. During this time I worked closely with the university of Mexico in their archives department.
I attended a comprehensive secondary school in north London, and achieved straight A* - A qualifications in both my GCSE and A Levels. For the latter I studied History of Art, English and History, and received full marks on both my final History and English A Level exams. My specialities lie in urban, social and aesthetic history, philosophy and socio-economic and socio-political critical theory. I am fluent in all humanities and social science subjects. I have ambitions of becoming an academic, and hope to impart this passion and enthusiasm onto the students I teach, despite any lack of confidence they may have.
I have extensive experience working with children, having worked as an au pair in Madrid, Spain between my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and as a regular childminder for a family in central London. ...
Fenella Chesterfield – Professional Teacher in London and Cambridge
I am a home-schooling specialist and trained teacher, with a Cambridge first-class degree and experience working at a top UK boarding school. Having taught classes of students of wide-ranging abilities, I am aware of the importance of catering for the specific needs of individuals; this is what primarily draws me to tutoring. There is nothing more satisfying than having the time to sit and work through the challenges that a particular student is facing, one-to-one. As a teacher, I know the value that this can add to both their achievement and also their enjoyment of schoolwork. So often seemingly overwhelming problems are born of a simple misunderstanding which can be quickly ironed out within individual tutor time, and I thoroughly enjoy getting to know the individual learning styles and interests of my students. ...
Helena Wells – Private Tutor in London
Prior to studying a degree in Anthropology at Cambridge (BA Hons 2:1), I went to Oakham School where I studied an eclectic mix of A-levels (History, Geography, Biology and Fine Art), and achieved top grades in all four subjects. This range of subjects, and the degree that followed, reflect my interest in people and why we behave as we do. Indeed I am continuing to pursue this interest, and am currently studying an MSc in Psychology at the University of Surrey.
Before studying at Surrey, I worked in the advertising industry (J Walter Thompson) and for a behavioural consultancy as a Project Manager. Whilst on the graduate scheme at J Walter Thompson, I won the Chrissie Barker award for Top Graduate in my year, achieved a Distinction in my IPA (Institute for Practitioners of Advertising) Foundation Award, and completed the IPA Effectiveness, and Legislation and Regulation awards. I also spent a month working and travelling in Japan, which was utterly fascinating.
Throughout my professional career I built a reputation as someone people turned to for support and I enjoyed helping develop new starters. I also have a wealth of insight when it comes to CV’s, personal statements and interview techniques – all of which are front of mind for me having just applied to university again myself. ...

A personable, articulate Cambridge graduate, who loves working with young people. I’m a natural problem solver, with a strong desire to ensure the success of my students. My strengths as a tutor involve creating a calm, non-judgemental space to learn, which I find allows students to develop their confidence and discover their talents.
At school, I combined a stellar rugby career, playing to a county standard, with academic excellence, achieving top grade A-Levels across the board, and earning a place at the University of Cambridge. I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a very solid 2.1 degree in Theology and Religious Studies in 2013. In my final year at Cambridge, I was the captain of the Clare College University Challenge team, making the quarter finals of the nationally televised competition.
My desire to teach began while I was still at school: Aged 16, I volunteered teaching English in my lunch breaks at my local primary school, and mentoring younger students at my own school who were not achieving their potential.
I have always been attracted to a wide range of challenges. After graduating from Cambridge, I began training as a secondary school RE teacher. I then pursued a career in fundraising, spending the last two years with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in London. I am now exploring training as a psychotherapist. ...

Oskar Schortz – Professional Teacher in London
Having studied in a boarding school in West Sussex, where I was a deputy-head of house and School prefect, I studied Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. At university, I encountered a wide variety of disciplines and ways of thinking; from politics, to psychology to history. Following my studies, I worked for the Department for Education in Westminster, where I advised schools on how to progress and collaborate with each other. I also began volunteering with a grassroots educational charity that mentors children from underrepresented communities through organising sports coaching and workshops.
I then went on to teach History at Rugby School, a top-tier boarding school in the Midlands, where I taught students between the ages of 13 to 18 years. I was also a pastoral tutor in a boarding house, where I was responsible for helping the sixth form students with their university and UCAS applications.

My interdisciplinary academic background and training means I am competent to teach at the crossroads of a number of disciplines.
