Maya Leibowitz - Private Tutor in Cambridge

Maya Leibowitz Private Tutor in Cambridge

As part of my undergraduate medical studies at The University of Cambridge, I completed a degree in preclinical medicine with a year spent in neuroscience. I am now completing my medical degree at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine. My academic interests have led me to pursue research in the areas of neurophysiology, paediatrics and public health.

With five years of tutoring under my belt, I have accumulated hundreds of hours of experience. I currently have some students that are studying for their GCSEs and others that I am helping with their application to medical school, including BMAT, UCAT, personal statements and interview preparation. Moreover, I have extensive experience leading seminars for groups of students both on scientific topics and elements of the medical school admissions process.

My Tutoring & Teaching Experience

I started tutoring just after I finished my GCSEs and my first student was working towards their 11+ exams. My tutoring network expanded from here and soon I was tutoring for up to 10 hours a week in a wide range of subjects including 11+, common entrance, GCSE maths, GCSE science, GCSE English and GCSE French. When I left school, I started tutoring A level biology, BMAT, UCAT and interview technique. I have recently progressed to teaching medical students in the years below clinical skills as an Associate Clinical Supervisor.

I have written and delivered full day courses on how to apply to study medicine in the UK and how to achieve your full potential in the BMAT. Moreover, as part of Access Schemes at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge, I have delivered workshops on functional anatomy. I am also involved in the production of study resources for the BMAT.

I enjoy tutoring students for a wide range of subjects and at all levels. My students are varied- some struggling with the demands of the competitive educational system and others extremely bright looking to be pushed to achieve their full potential.
