I am currently at King's College London, studying for a Masters degree in War Studies. Previously, I studied Classics for 4 years at the University of St Andrews, specialising in Roman Comedy and the Greek symposium. I attended Haileybury & Imperial Service College, a coeducational independent school in Hertfordshire, from the age of 11 through to 18, achieving a school record in the 11+ entrance exam.

My Tutoring & Teaching Experience

Whilst completing my undergraduate degree, I volunteered with the Iris Project, a charity whose aim was to broaden the reach of Latin by offering engaging lessons to children who would otherwise not be exposed to the subject. This involved weekly preparing and delivering weekly classes at Torbain Primary School, Kirkcaldy to a group of around 25 children. This experience developed my skills in lesson planning as well as tailoring activities and learning approaches to children of different abilities.

My Approach to Tutoring

My goal in tutoring, regardless of subject, is to encourage students to think independently and creatively to solve whatever problem lies before them. I also aim to foster an environment which promotes academic curiosity. I want my students to strive for greater knowledge, actively questioning and exploring new material to better their educative progress. As a tutor, I also strive to push my students beyond the curriculum, exploring their interests and motivations beyond the classroom in order to nurture an innate desire to expand their knowledge.

Fun Facts About Me

Outside of tutoring, I am a keen sportsman and I play football and golf whenever possible. I enjoy going to museums and galleries regularly, especially to exhibitions on classical art and architecture. I am very fond of walking and travel and have undertaken various hikes in Malaysia, Indonesia, Montenegro and Greece. As a language enthusiast, I am currently learning Russian alongside my masters degree.

Having studied in a boarding school in West Sussex, where I was a deputy-head of house and School prefect, I studied Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. At university, I encountered a wide variety of disciplines and ways of thinking; from politics, to psychology to history. I completed an MSc degree in Law and Anthropology at The London School of Economics (LSE), during which I worked as an administrator for a legal research network and organised conferences for a international think tank, most notably a conference at the European Union parliament in Brussels.
